Billing & Insurance FAQs
Do I need a referral to see a nephrologist?
Referral requirements vary by insurance plan. While some PPO plans allow direct access, most HMO plans require a referral from your primary care physician to be covered.
How are copays and deductibles handled?
Copayments are due at the time of your visit. We will bill your insurance for the remainder of the service cost; however, you are responsible for any amounts applied to your annual deductible.
What if Total Kidney is out-of-network for my plan?
If we are out-of-network, you may still be seen using out-of-network benefits, though your out-of-pocket costs may be higher. We also offer competitive self-pay rates for these instances.
Do you offer payment plans for larger bills?
Yes, we believe financial concerns should not be a barrier to care. Please speak with our billing department to arrange a flexible monthly payment plan if needed.
What are the options for self-pay patients?
For patients without insurance coverage, we provide transparent, predetermined self-pay pricing for consultations and follow-up visits to ensure your care remains accessible.
